Hello Positivity Poppers. It is always a personal pleasure of mine to introduce to you our Positivity Popper of the month.  For the month of November 2021, I present to you Ms. Anita Jackson.  Anita was nominated for POM by Ms. Shay Dobbs.  “I am nominating Anita Jackson; I could not have run the Billing Dept without her. She is always so positive and took the time to listen and to pass her positivity on to others.  Even during her fight with breast cancer, she was always so energetic, positive and the star of the room.”

After reading Shay’s nomination of Anita, I knew that Anita was our Positivity Popper for November.  I found Anita’s story to be personally inspiring.  She is such an amazingly strong and phenomenal woman.  Ms. Jackson is a survivor!  She is a positive person NATURALLY. I learned this when I asked her to tell me a little bit about herself.  “That is a loaded question, its always hard to describe yourself.  I grew up with 4 brothers, I am the baby girl, from a small County in Virginia.  I am very laid back and I love to have fun.  I’ve always been positive.  I’ve been that way my all of my life.  I enjoy doing things in my church.  I love to fellowship as I am a people person.  I have two children, 1 girl and 1 boy ages 27 & 23.  I’ve worked in Healthcare for the past 21 years.  I love to cook and shop.  My favorite meal to cook is lasagna.”

Anita started out in the Healthcare field as a Medical Assistant. “I’ve done it all in the Medical Billing world.  I always knew I wanted to be in healthcare.  I enjoy helping people.  I came from a family with a lot of medical issues, and I was always playing the nurse to everyone.  So, I always wanted to be in that capacity, I’ve always wanted to make a difference for somebody.  Didn’t exactly do what I had set out to do but being in healthcare fulfilled me.  I originally wanted to be a doctor.”

As me being the inquisitive Positivity Coach that I am I had to ask her, “How is it that you are naturally positive?”  She replied by stating, “It came from my parents.  It’s how I grew up, there was no room to throw a pity party or complain.  Whatever life gave me I made the most of it.  I watched my parents remain positive during their own health issues and I just never saw then being sad about anything.  My mother is my biggest inspiration.  If I could be half the woman that my mother, is I’d be good with that.”

In June of 2019, Ms. Jackson was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  She came out on the other side of it as a Survivor.  Maintaining a positive attitude throughout her battle is just amazing.  And for that Ms. Anita Jackson, we celebrate you!  “The biggest part was telling my children and my friends.  I had to console them.  And comfort them.  I choose to have a bilateral mastectomy.  So, I would always say I’m getting new tatas out the deal.  I’m getting new perky ones, how can u be upset about that? .... lol. I try to make the most of things and see the positive, that is how I get through.  I had kidney failure last year.  I still do everything I want to do.  And I never allow my to positivity turn negative. I am on the transplant list.  Most people don’t know that because I don’t tell a lot of people. I don’t need people to feel sorry me.  I have no need for that in my life.”

I told you that she was amazing.  As a CPC, I understand that we all have to be able to release the negativity that we encounter in some way, so I asked her, “How do you release your negativity?” And she had a one-word answer.  “Laughter!  I’m always telling jokes and laughing.  No one knows if I am sick.   I could be having a bad day and sick and still tell jokes and laugh like nothing is wrong.  I’d say it is a gift that GOD gave me along with my FAITH.”   Yes, I agree it is truly a gift.  The ability to maintain my positivity during difficult times was something that I had to teach myself, something that I had to learn.

You already know I asked Anita my favorite question to ask during these monthly interviews, which is,, How do you feel about being the POM.  Ms. Jackson replied, “Shocked at first.  I feel really honored and blessed to be in a position to share a portion of my story because I’ve learned over the years that by telling just a part of your story really helps the next person.  I am grateful and thankful.  I’m always humbled but I am truly grateful for this opportunity and this honor.”

I am truly inspired by Anita as well.  It is an honor to present her to you all.  Anita Jackson is a true Positivity Popper!  She keeps her Positivity Poppin’ Naturally.

                              Anita Jackson, we salute you!
